What is the Hero’s Journey?

For our latest album, A Thousand Faces Acts 1 and 2, we hoped for our live concert to take you, the listener, through Joseph Cambell’s Monomyth. After this tour, we wanted to tap into the stories of our fans. The music could be just the beginning for creating and collecting larger stories from people around the world.

We imagined a way tap the collective story telling power of each individual. What if we all tried to create stories built around a parallel narrative, and what better story to build on top of than Joseph Cambell’s monomyth, the universal narrative structure that inherently unites all of the world’s cultures?

Now, we finally present to you the Hero’s Journey Online – a new tool for people from all over the world to collectively create and share their own Hero’s Journey narratives.

How does this work?

Each week, two new chapters and videos will be released along with a prompt to write and share your own personal Hero’s Journey stories. A map is also provided to help track your current progress and location in the world of A Thousand Faces.

For each step of the narrative, you can share your version of the story in a Journal – your personal log through the adventure. You can then share these Journal entries and encourage others to share their own thoughts on the prompts provided. In the end, all your stories will be able to be viewed in one place.

Eventually, the story will lead into a new album release, A Thousand Faces Act 2. And if you complete all the Journal entries, you’ll receive a free download of the new album + a chance to win free Beats Antique concert tickets.
