Festival Spotlight: VEMF

If you live round these parts, you’re already super familiar with Victoria Electronic Music Festival. Let me offer a quick description for those who aren’t!: VEMF is a non-profit, family-friendly, all-ages festival which features an exceptional artist lineup, 5 days of VEMF Interactive seminars, a vendor market, live & performance art, a beer garden, and much more. Now in its 9th year, the 2012 incarnation of VEMF will take place on August 4th & 5th in Centennial Square in the heart of downtown Victoria BC, and is expected to attract more than 10,000 people this BC Day long weekend!

If you are unfamiliar with VEMF, stay tuned to www.vemf.org as more and more information surfaces on what is bound to be an epic 2012 year for the festival. Still buzzing from the success of VEMF 2011, big management companies are lined up to support the festival with some of the biggest names in the business – though of course, the really juicy info stays boxed up til much closer to the festival 😉

Meanwhile, local artists will soon be submitting their applications to the event in hopes of being selected for one of the prized spots in Centennial Square or perhaps a set at one of the partnered nightclubs opening for artists such as JELO, Dekoze, Donald Glaude, Christopher Lawrence and others of kindred mastery! And last year the selection committee had their hands VERY full, trying to fill some 60 spots from some 150+ applications. Some tough work, given the calibre of our local artists. I understand applications will be live soon – stay tuned to VEMF.org!
