In 2008 we started to hit our stride – both musically, and graphically! Which is to say – we started to play with some really great graphic designers! We also started to deliver some of the first recurring series Tribe Productions (now Sunset Labs) got into – including Lucid, Sunset Sounds, Root Riddims, Sunset Sessions & the monstrous Bass Bottoms series. Again we were able to work with some hugely talented artists including Bluetech, Ronin, David Starfire, Adham Shaikh, Gaudi, Daega Sound System, Shen, Dub Gabriel, Jef Stott & Drumspyder, Subatomic Sound System, Max Ulis, Liquid Stranger & Delhi 2 Dublin – many for their first visits to Victoria! We started giving the younger crowd more of what they wanted as well – with guests like Isaac Amor, DJ Leanne, Taal Mala & Miss Marz! Hope you enjoy this visual trip down memory lane…

Check out what others are saying about this post...[...] In a few weeks it will be Sunset Room’s 5th Birthday! A little hard to believe, actually. That’s 5 years of community music, art, dance, djs & promoters. Many dozens of different promoters, actually – some for their very first time. Many hundreds of nights. And THOUSANDS of DJ sets (I’ve done the math) – many for their first time! Along with this long history of dance nights Sunset has hosted numerous documentary film screenings, photo shoots, book fairs, all-ages punk parties, various courses, art shows, harm reduction workshops, private events, community art jams, fashion shows and much more.
