The ever-awesome Beats Antique crew have generously bestowed upon our ears a YUMMY new mix to brighten your day (and possibly, your whole life!). Enjoy it! And if you do, spread it around! In looking at their 2013 tour schedule, I don’t yet see any BC dates – so this mix MIGHT be as close as you’re going to get.. depending of course, on your travel plans! Enjoy…
On a beautiful May 4th evening the “Raize the Hoof” Tour arrived in Victoria with Lynx, Buckman Coe – and the ever-inspiring (and equally ridiculous) The Tailor! Joining forces to raise funds & awareness for the White Crow Farm Project, these generous and committed musicians packed the dance floor for a long night of bliss. Here is The Tailor’s brilliantly woven contribution to this journey. Enjoy!
Raggabass Resistance is the groundbreaking 4th album release from critically acclaimed ragga/dubstep pioneer, Dub Gabriel. Three years in the making and spanning multiple continents, he has been on an epic bass-fueled journey that saw him enlist the support of an incredible crew of collaborators – U-Roy, Warrior Queen, The Spaceape (Kode9/Burial), Brother Culture (On-U/Mungo’s Hi Fi), Jahdan Blakkamoore (Major Lazer/Snoop Lion), Dr. Israel, MC Zulu, Juakali, PJ Higgins (Temple of Sound), David J (Bauhaus/Love & Rockets), Pedro Erazo (Gogol Bordelo), and Mark Pistel (Hercules & Love Affair) – they all come together in an electro-organic stew of future reggae sounds to create Dub Gabriel’s most realized and ambitious album to date.

Depth Charge is the latest compilation from Interchill. Compiled by Andrew and Naasko, the selection travels through a wide variety of mid tempo bass music and reflects elements of the festival culture we’ve seen evolve out here in BC, Canada. There are tracks from Interchill favourites like Hibernation, Liquid Stranger, Spiral System and Legion of Green Men [log(m)]. There are also a number of artists that appear on Interchill for the first time which round out the track list with a forward thinking and ultra fresh sound. Kryptic Minds, Ruckspin, Submotion Orchestra, Daega Sound, Bakir, Kaminanda, Occult, Venture, Maus & RootsInSession all make their debut on Interchill and bring their low-end stylistic influences to the plate.
Rather than take a honed-in approach with Depth Charge, we’ve widened our horizons and mixed up boundaries and genres including breaks, downtempo, 2step, dubtech, future roots and the deeper side of dubstep. The result is a synthesis of depth and energy, sparseness and detail, favouring contrast over sameness – all tied together by bass.
Daega Sound – Don’t Stop
Bakir – Deep End
Occult – Loose Change
Submotion Orchestra – Sunshine
Ruckspin, Planas & Lavalian – Steppin’
RootsInSession – No War
Maus – Story Tailors Feat. Doba
Hibernation – Catacombs [SE23 Remix]
Spiral System – Pascal’s Journey
Kaminanda – Owl’s Gaze
log(m) & Laraaji – Daisy Dub
Venture – Breathe In
Liquid Stranger – Sorb
Kryptic Minds – Brief Passing
Resonance explores decadent and mysterious worlds of sound. Deeper down the rabbit hole the gritty basses and twisted wobbles will take you. Don’t fret as there are plenty of soaring transcendent melodies, one will no doubt loose themselves in a divine dance. The ears will be enchanted by the whimsical music boxes and hammered dulcimers. The mind will be enhanced by the grinding basses and serpentine oscillators. And the soul will be blissfully aroused from from the lush gypsy violin melodies. Joined by Rosey, Krystyn Pixton, Irina Mikhailova and other greats, this new EP delivers the classic dark and sexy Govinda moments while taking you on an alien journey through your wildest dreams.
released 06 September 2012

The ethno electro dub labs of Kaya Project, Desert Dwellers, Drumspyder, Spoonbill, Xopianoi, Lexifer and Log(M) have been busy reworking the popular global bass release Universal Frequencies by Adham Shaikh to present fresh interpretations of psy, dub, glitch hop, tribal tech, whomp, and ambient vibes.
Due to popular responses both from fans and artists, this remix project expanded to include a second volume. This volume focuses on the more chill broken beat groovy side of the electronic music spectrum.
