SUMMARY:Leap Day Holotropic Breathwork
DESCRIPTION:Take a Leap on Leap Day!\nGrof Holotropic BreathworkTM uses Breath as Sacred Medicine to evoke non-ordinary states of consciousness for self-discovery and healing using accelerated breathing to an exquisite soundscape. Dr Stan Grof and the late Christina Grof pioneered this approach starting in the 1970s when research into the healing potential of non ordinary states with psychedelic medicines was stopped. Although Holotropic Breathwork is similar to the use of some sacred and psychedelic medicines it is a substance-free and natural approach to expanding consciousness and integrating mind\, body and spirit. A session follows the basic set and setting of a psychedelic session and therefore is part of the training of psychedelic psychotherapists. \n\nPreregister Here\nhttp://www.thesecretofbreath.com/workshops-all \nSunset Lab provides an amazing facility in the heart of the city yet private with a professional sound system! Doors open at 8:45 am for a 9 am start. Finish is approximately 7 pm. Light meals included in $140 early bird price. \n\nMore info on Holotropic Breathwork is available at this link:\nhttp://www.thesecretofbreath.com/workshops-all

SUMMARY:GIFT Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of the breathtaking and richly cinematic documentary THE GIFT\, followed by a Q&A session with award winning Filmmaker Robin McKenna\, who will be joining us LIVE via Skype to answer your questions. \n“Robin McKenna’s elliptical\, poetic\, and visually arresting “Gift” examines the radical concept that creativity is not a commodity to be sold but a blessing to be shared.”\n-Peter Keogh\, The Boston Globe \nWATCH THE TRAILER: \n \nGIFT-Trailer from Gaudete Films on Vimeo. \n\nEVENT DETAILS:\nDoors: 6:30pm\nFilm: 7pm-8:30pm\nQ&A w Director: 8:30-9:00pm\nPrice: Pay What Feels Good\nTickets available at the door. \n\nABOUT THE GIFT\nInspired by Lewis Hyde’s beloved classic The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World\, GIFT is a richly cinematic film\, interweaving character-driven stories. On North America’s Pacific Northwest Coast\, a young Indigenous man undertakes the elaborate preparations for a potlatch—to make a name for himself by giving everything away. In Rome\, Italy\, a factory occupied by migrant families is transformed into a living museum\, protected by a “barricade of art”: a model of resistance\, and an invaluable gift. In the pirate utopia of Burning Man\, a mutant bumblebee art car distributes honey in a post-apocalyptic desert landscape. Meanwhile\, in Auckland\, New Zealand\, artist Mingwei Lee prepares to launch Sonic Blossom – a “transformative gift” of song. GIFT is a tribute to something that can’t be measured or counted\, bought or sold. Exploring the parallels between artists’ work and a gift economy\, it’s a reflection on the creative process\, the reasons we “labour in service of our gifts”\, and a celebration of the imagination. \nABOUT ROBIN MCKENNA \nRobin McKenna began making films with La Course destination monde. Her film\, The Great War Experience won Yorkton Film Festival’s Founders’ Award in 2007. Her cinematography credits include City of Borders (Berlinale\, HotDocs 2008) and The Take with Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis (AFI Best Documentary\, 2004). She is an alumnus of Hot Docs Doc Lab\, and has been a filmmaker-mentor with Wapikoni Mobile. GIFT is Robin’s first feature documentary. Currently\, she is direction a short film with the National Film Board for the Governor General’s Award for the Performing Arts and finishing Thanadoula\, a short documentary fairytale about a girl’s search for her older sister and the “crow magic” connecting them. She is a producer/co-director of Medicine\, a feature documentary in post-production about ayahuasca\, medicine and healing. \n\nPRAISE FOR THE GIFT! \n“Thank you for this magisterial film\, subtle as it is on the revolutionary nature of art and the power forged when we honor our gifts and give them away. A dream\, a meditation\, a call to action.\n-Terry Tempest Williams\, author & environmentalist \n“At a time when art is relentlessly commercialized and commodified\, Robin McKenna’s “Gift” provides a gentle and welcome reminder of other values.”\n-A.O. Scott\, The New York Times \n“A beautiful\, moving\, and thought-provoking reflection on the creative process and the things that make us human.”\n-Jonathan Lethem\, novelist \n“GIFT presents us with a rare opportunity to escape the relentless logic of the market and to reclaim a little bit of our human freedom.”\n-Le Devoir \n“GIFT is a poetic outlook on gift economies through art and cultural practices. It follows four storylines linked by creativity\, generosity\, resistance and defiance.”\n-Phi Centre \n“As we witnessed the transformative power of this gift\, our eyes filled with tears. This kind of art cannot be measured or counted; it is priceless. It travels from heart to heart and keeps on moving.”\n-Spirituality and Practice

SUMMARY:Birthing the Urban Village
DESCRIPTION:Want to help birth the urban village?\nIt’s a time of social\, political\, economic\, cultural and environmental meltdowns\, and we need to regenerate ecosystems on a large scale — including and in particular the ecosystems of our cities! The urban environment is part of nature\, both impacted by the landscape around it and with profound effects on surrounding lands and waters\, as well as on the lives of their inhabitants. \nWith 68% of global population projected to be living in urban centres by 2050\, our cities are the global engines of culture\, creativity and economic innovation\, yet they are also often cold\, alienating and unsustainable. Can we bring the warmth and deep relatedness of the village to the urban streets\, and still keep the excitement and magic of urban living\, all while bringing our world back into balance with the nature that surrounds us? \nHow can we regenerate our cities\, our human ecosytems\, economies\, social interactions\, and human nature? How can we do so with an emphasis on culture building being core to our being\, not allowing ourselves to be thrown off of our core integrity and purpose\, while we also have to respond to what is throwing the world out of balance? This is the way to keep becoming stronger\, more connected with each other\, more resilient as our love for each other and the world grows more dear and fierce. \nJoin us IN PERSON or ONLINE for this panel presentation and community dialogue featuring an array of the west coast’s leading changemakers! \n  \n\nOUR PANELISTS:\nSTARHAWK | www.starhawk.org\nStarhawk is an author\, activist\, permaculture designer and teacher\, and a prominent voice in modern earth-based spirituality and ecofeminism. Starhawk founded Earth Activist Training\, teaching permaculture design grounded in spirituality and with a focus on activism. She travels internationally\, lecturing and teaching on earth-based spirituality\, the tools of ritual\, and the skills of activism. \nMARK LAKEMAN | www.cityrepair.org\nMark always gets out of bed in the morning excited to take down the patriarchy by repairing cities. He sees placemaking as restorative work\, reacquainting people with how many complex dimensions of urban life can rejoin and then become simple together. Mark loves watching people create together and enact ecological and community repair as a way of finding their power. Mark loves building\, designing\, drawing\, helping\, using his hands in a zillion creative ways. He also loves being a son\, brother\, dad\, husband\, a friend\, and an old growth activist. \nBRANDY GALLAGHER | www.ourecovillage.org\nBrandy has worked in Community Development circles for the past 24 years with a focus of ‘recreating the commons’ and having alternative economy as a basis within trade/barter\, gift economy and service to the common good. Her work includes mobilizing tens of thousands of peoples to work together towards a seemingly impossible vision to rebecoming villagers\, urban or rural\, in a way that regenerates land and attempts to protect our collective future for generations to come. \nModerated By:\nMAYOR LISA HELPS | www.lisahelpsvictoria.ca\nLisa Helps became the 52nd Mayor of Victoria when she was elected on November 15\, 2014\, and was sworn into office for her second term on November 1\, 2018. SUMMARY:Consent Matters
DESCRIPTION:  \nWHAT IS CONSENT?\nConsent is a coherent mutual physical\, spiritual\, emotional\, & verbal agreement made without any coercion between people. The truth is\, we are all practicing consent in our daily lives\, in almost every moment: \n  \n“You have something in your hair\, can I get it out for you?”\n“Would you like a glass of water?”\n“Do you need a ride to the store? I would love to drive!”\n“Do you want a hug?” \n  \nConsent is just a broad term that encompasses willing agreements between people to engage in any given activity. Consent is a crucial ingredient in all healthy interactions and relationships. Through practicing consent\, you can understand someones desires and needs as well as communicate your own. \nOver the past couple of years\, we have started emphasizing the importance of interpersonal & intimate consent more than ever before in western history. But what often gets left out of these discussions is how exactly you go about the business of obtaining and providing consent in real-life situations. \nWe’re very excited to offer this two-part afternoon to support our whole community in evolving our collective consent language and integration\, allowing us to build more safety\, trust and connection at events\, on dance floors\, on a date… perhaps even in the bedroom. 🙂 \n  \nPART 1: #ConsentMatters 101\n1:00PM-2:30PM | Pay What You Can\nCome learn the nuances of what enthusiastic consent is through this interactive workshop. Learn skills\, tools\, and resources on how to create a safer space. \n  \nWHY THIS MATTERS?\n\nConsent Matters because it can not only lessen harm done to each other\, it can provide you with more connection and pleasure in your life. \nWHAT WE’LL TEACH YOU: \nWe will teach you the nuances of enthusiastic consent. Looking at how you cultivate meaningful connections and practice communication needed to support those connections. Delving into ways we can identify desire within ourselves and others. \nWHERE MIGHT YOU USE THIS?\nYou can use this in your life\, both personally and community focused. She has also done part time work with the culinary program at Stelly’s Secondary School\, helping students who plan to enter the culinary program at Camosun after graduation. “(Community Micro Lending) made a difference in helping me start and run my own business allowing me to contribute to my community with my skill set”. \n  \n  \n\nTWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE!:\nJoin us in person at Sunset Labs!\n400 Herald Street\, Victoria (behind Value Village) | Limited seating so RSVP is required.\nGet your FREE ticket to attend this event in person\, here: HERE! \n  \nJoin us online via Stream of Consciousness!\nCan’t join us in person? SUMMARY:Raincoast Conservation Foundation
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Future of Killer Whale Recovery\nWith the Southern Resident population now at only 75 individuals\, their survival is clearly threatened under current conditions. Additional noise from vessel traffic\, further reductions in food availability\, or random events such as disease and oil spills would significantly increase their risk of extinction. Our research has helped to outline the viability of this population\, given existing threats and those on the horizon. The same research also outlines that we can put them on a path to recovery if we take necessary action. \nHosted by Bob McDonald\, host of CBC’s Quirks and Quarks\, this evening will discuss possibilities for recovery of critically endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales. \nFrom fisheries closures and feeding refuges free from fishing and whale watching\, to closure of marine commercial and recreational fisheries and noise reductions from commercial vessels\, recovery measures are controversial. \nEXPERT PANELISTS\nMisty MacDuffee: Wild Salmon Program Director\, Raincoast Conservation Foundation \nMisty has been working on salmon conservation as a biologist for over 20 years. For more than a decade she has led Raincoast’s efforts to protect to protect the Southern Residents. As well as a publishing critical research on both wild salmon and killer whales\, Misty works with government and industry on fisheries reform and sits on various technical committees focused on wild salmon and killer whale conservation. \nDr. Peter S. Ross: Vice-President of Research at Ocean Wise\nPeter currently oversees eight research programs at Ocean Wise that deliver conservation science to the international community. He is Adjunct Professor at the University of Victoria. He served as a Research Scientist with the Canadian government between 1996 and 2013. He is an international authority in the area of ocean pollution\, having published over 150 scientific articles\, with a focus on the source\, transport\, fate and effects of priority pollutants. He discovered the region’s killer whales to be the most ‘contaminated marine mammals in the world’ in a groundbreaking study in the year 2000\, and more recently reported on the widespread distribution of microplastics in the NE Pacific Ocean. \nMichael Jasny: Director of Marine Mammal Protection\, Natural Resources Defence Council\nMichael is a widely published expert on the law and policy of ocean noise pollution. For over ten years\, he has directed high-profile litigation\, lobbying efforts\, science-based policy development\, and public advocacy to improve the regulation of this emergent global problem. His work also focuses on securing protection for endangered marine mammals and their habitat\, opposing development projects that threaten marine mammals off the U.S. and Canadian coastlines\, and improving management of fisheries\, whale-watching tourism\, and other sectors that impact these vulnerable species. \nGET YOUR IN PERSON TICKET TO THIS EVENT HERE! \n  \nCAN’T MAKE IT IN PERSON? SUMMARY:The Future of Our Food
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of sharing stories directly from the teachers\, parents\, and students impacted from their involvement in the Farm Education Program offered by Growing Young Farmers Society (GYFS). \nGYFS brings organic farming education right into school gardens all around Victoria and the Capital Region to rekindle organic farm knowledge in the youth of today and increase the number of farmers and available local organic food in our region. \nFarm Education in schools is playing a critical role in building long term food security and food quality for the present and future of Southern Vancouver Island. With a dwindling of local farming in recent generations\, come learn how your school can become part of this program that has so many benefits far beyond the act of farming. \nJoshua Wagler of Edible Landscapes Design\, a local edible landscaping design firm who works closely with Growing Young Farmers\, will be our host\, guiding our evening through the powerful stories of food and farm education. \nDoors open at 6 pm\nLIVESTREAM starts at 6:30 pm. \nABOUT OUR HOST\, JOSHUA WAGLER: \nJoshua is passionate about bringing the wisdom of Nature into human development. He has travelled the world studying Globalization and Sustainability of Cities\, and graduated with an Urban Studies Degree from the University of Calgary in 2010. Upon returning to Canada\, he began seeking practical solutions to the challenges he witnessed in the mega-cities of Pacific Asia. \nThis quest lead him on a solo pilgrimage into the Rocky Mountains\, and eventually back into the city\, where he began studying permaculture design\, food forestry\, and urban placemaking. Here he learned and worked alongside experts in these fields\, including Mark Lakeman\, Richard Walker\, Javan Bernakevitch\, and Brandon Bauer. Upon completing a business development course with Ethos Career Management Group\, he spearheaded the corporate launch of Edible Landscapes Design Ltd with Nick Poeta and Marc DeMontigny. \nSince then he has co-created numerous edible forest gardens\, workshops\, and educational events. He thrives in teaching\, sharing the magic of food forestry\, artistic design\, and bridging the needs of diverse interest groups. Along with sitting on the board of the business as President & VP Marketing\, Joshua acts as one the firm’s main Edible Landscape Designers and Consultants. \nTWO WAYS TO JOIN US! \nHOSTED LIVE AT SUNSET LABS!:\nIn Victoria and want to join us in person? DIGITAL tickets & details are here!: \nGrowing Young Farmers Society \n \nABOUT GROWING YOUNG FARMERS SOCIETY: \nWHAT WE DO\nThe Growing Young Farmers School Program is suitable for learners of all ages and abilities\, from preschoolers to high school students. We combine theoretical teaching in the classroom\, with hands on practical learning in gardens located on school grounds or nearby. Our program emphasizes the importance of local\, organic\, sustainable food sources and teaches children and youth how to grow healthy produce – and encourages them to share their knowledge with their families and community. In addition to our in-school program\, GYFS also runs summer camps! \nWHY WE DO IT\nThe lessons we teach address a variety of issues concerning all of us today. As parents\, we talk about healthy eating to our children\, but do they really understand what that even means? By introducing them to growing food\, they are more aware of what they are consuming\, where it is coming from\, and how it is impacting the environment. By learning how to grow food\, students can also play an active role in increasing our island’s sustainability and decreasing our dependence on imported food sources. \nFor more information about Growing Young Farmer Society\, check out their website:\nhttp://www.growingyoungfarmers.ca/ \nABOUT THE 2020 VISION PROJECT:\n20 local non-profits. 20 broadcasts. 20 months.1 gift. \n2020 Vision is a Stream of Consciousness grant program designed to amplify & forward the deep work being done by the non-profit & charities right here in our hometown of Victoria. \n“We are gifting 20 live broadcast events\, over 20 months\, to 20 local community-based organizations in order to help them reach more people\, scale their message\, capture some beautiful video\, host an event\, and build an expanded awareness of the cause they champion! 2020 Vision is our way of saying THANK YOU for all that you’re doing to make the world a more beautiful\, just\, compassionate\, balanced and sustainable world.” \nFor more details on the program\, visit: \n2020 Vision

SUMMARY:The Conscious Classroom
DESCRIPTION:LIVE 3-HOUR WORKSHOP & BOOK LAUNCH\nHave you felt despair about the teen experience and the state of our schools today?\nDo you wish you knew tools that help teens flower and access their innate curiosity and wisdom?\nAre you ready to learn time-honored techniques that open the heart and make space for the good\, the bad\, and the uncertain? \nWORKSHOP OVERVIEW\nIn this live-streamed training\, Amy Edelstein will take you into the wisdom of her new release The Conscious Classroom. You will learn about a system that has been empowering 4000 teens in the inner city of Philadelphia to calm\, focus\, connect\, and access their deeper intelligence and trust in life. \nToday’s teens face many challenges. Some are familiar. We may remember the tumult of adolescence. But other challenges are new. Our digitized\, globalized world creates pressures for kids that were non-existent even a few short decades ago. \nOut-dated school systems find it hard to keep pace with the times. They don’t have the flexibility to prepare students for a workforce that is rapidly changing. They don’t have time to support kids consumed by anxiety or the memory of trauma. Teachers find themselves faced with classroom challenges they have little training for and even less time to respond to. Sadly\, our kids are experiencing rates of depression and anxiety\, stress and trauma that are rising at an alarming pace. \nBut this workshop is not about problems.\nThis evening is about solutions. \nSolutions that have been tested\, measured\, and demonstrated in the experience of high school students. \nThe Conscious Classroom is an approach\, perspective\, and program that helps us work with reality as it is and improve It is about low-cost\, high-impact tools that have already been making a real difference among 4000 high school students in Philadelphia. \nWhen youth light up with the discovery that they can dial back negative emotions\, that they can hack fear and go beyond self-imposed limitations\, a rush of energy is released that can’t be put back in the bottle. This energy is the passion of youth and the thirst for life. \nIn some teens it is a quiet knowing. In others it’s a shy smile of self-achievement. And for others it is a vulnerability that is as strong as it is soft. As confident as it is loving. When we as parents\, educators\, or mentors witness this transformation\, we feel uplifted. We feel that the future is bright. \nThe Inner Strength System™ empowers teens with the lifelong skills of mindfulness and systemic thinking. As teens learn to calm and focus they are more able to stay on track to realize their academic and personal goals. As they learn how to see their experience in light of the large-scale forces that influence them from within and without – from 300 million years of brain development to 50\,000 years of cultural conditioning – they become fascinated\, rather than overwhelmed\, by their experience. \nIN THIS TRAINING\nIn this live webcast training you will learn some tools that you can practice with your own teens or begin to incorporate into work you already do as a parent\, teacher\, employer\, or guide. You will:\n> Be inspired by the real life successes and stories of teens.\n> Learn foundational mindfulness tools you can use with your teens & for your own stress-relief.\n> Discover the science behind why educating for well-being leads to better academic outcomes and better brain health.\n> Practice exercises that cultivate Love & Kindness. \nAVAILABLE VIA LIVESTREAM\nNot in Victoria? Or just have your hands full and can’t join us?\nWatch the whole event online via Stream of Consciousness livestream. You can connect with other viewers\, respond to polls\, and ask questions of the speakers! Details and registration are here:\nhttps://streamofconsciousness.ca/event/amy-edelstein-conscious-classroom/ \nABOUT AMY EDELSTEIN\nAmy Edelstein\, educator\, author\, and public speaker is a powerful communicator of ideas and beliefs that can help us transform ourselves and the culture we live in. We’re seeing a spike in anxiety\, depression and isolation\, and we’ve got a huge number of kids leaving high school — university\, even — without the resilience to handle the constant change and uncertainty of a fast-moving world. And we’ve got some ideas for what to do about it. \nWHO ARE WE\n———————————————–\nRethink Thinking was launched in 2016 by a passionate group of educators\, parents and social entrepreneurs who share a vision of supporting young people to develop the skills needed for today’s era of rapid change and interconnection. Our philosophy and approach is designed to empower youth and support creativity\, innovation and holistic well-being. \n<3

SUMMARY:Darkest Night: Dancing In Our Shadows
DESCRIPTION:  \nSHADOW AND LIGHT SOURCE BOTH\nby Rumi \nHow does a part of the world leave the world?\nHow does wetness leave water?\nDon’t try to put out fire by throwing on more fire!\nDon’t wash a wound with blood.\nNo matter how fast you run\, your shadow keeps up.\nSometimes it’s in front!\nOnly full overhead sun diminishes your shadow. \nBut that shadow has been serving you.\nWhat hurts you\, blesses you.\nDarkness is your candle.\nYour boundaries are your quest.\nI could explain this\,\nbut it will break the glass cover on your heart\,\nand there’s no fixing that. \nYou must have shadow and light -source both.\nListen\, and lay your head under the tree of awe.\nWhen from that tree feathers and wings sprout on you\,\nbe quieter than a dove.\nDon’t even open your mouth for even a coo.\n \n  \nDARKEST NIGHT: Dancing In Our Shadows\n*please note details below re arrival times & agreements \nWelcome to ‘Darkest Night’\, our winter solstice celebration & ceremony! To you we bid welcome\, fellow human… frail & tender & bruised from a life well-traveled… hopeful yet resigned\, empowered yet diminished\, loving yet fearful. While our shadows are ever-present\, we live in an agreement reality wherein recognizing\, owning and dancing with our shadow is something we’re often left to do alone\, without support\, without witness. \nThis night we gather to spend the darkest night of the year together\, in communion\, in ceremony\, in reflection\, in reverence and in dance. As light or heavy as it may be\, come with an open heart\, and bring what shadows may persist… that we may do some deep work together to navigate the collective unspoken depths\, as we begin the long beautiful transition from the darkness… back into the light. \n  \nCOMMUNITY POTLUCK\nWe’ll open the doors at 6pm sharp and commune together until 7:30\, when we’ll begin to transition ourselves – and our space – towards the ceremony and evening. If you’re able to do so\, please bring 1 item that will feel good to make\, feel good to eat\, and feel good in our bellies as we dance later into the evening. Please LABEL your items & ingredients clearly so that everyone can make informed decisions on their meal. \nTo ensure the container is powerfully set for our evening\, during the opening ceremony new guests will not be welcomed into the space. SO – please arrive before 7:45pm OR after 8:15pm. (Ideally – come around 6pm to join us for the meal and connect with your community!) \n  \nOPENING | GUIDED REFLECTIONS (DYADS)\nJason Guille & Alex King-Harris\n* bring a journal & a cushion to sit on 🙂 \nAfter opening the circle and setting the container together\, we’ll get cozy for the thinking/reflecting/sharing part of our evening. Jason & Alex will offer you a series of questions to prompt personal reflections on the year that’s past\, and participants will be paired up together for solo journalling and then\, if & as you feel called\, to share your observations\, reflections and experiences. This will be a time not of coaching or advice\, but rather of deep reflection & LISTENING. \nWe’ll move through a series of guided explorations around our habits\, resentments\, stuckness\, wants\, relationships and incompletions. Here we’ll build a powerful bridge from the mind & the past… into the body & the present. \n  \nGUIDED CACAO CEREMONY\nOcian Flo & Jazmin Love \nCacao is considered to be a healing plant for inner growth. It is a very gentle and non psychedelic supporter that allows to open the heart to reconnect to our inner wisdom and true self. Cacao helps\, unlike other substances\, to do the shadow work from the heart instead of the brain. \nCacao is like the archetypal mother that gives you love and compassion\, that nourishes and nurtures you and gently supports you on your personal growth and your path to wholeness. She opens the door but you need to walk through. \n  \nDARKEST NIGHT DANCE TEMPLE\nJazmin Love\, Dance Temple Victoria \nThe ecstatic dance journey is a free-style movement experience featuring juicy\, soulful beats by Jaz to inspire deep and wild embodiment. The invitation is to dance with your shadows and to move from the inside out\, while remaining non-verbal\, as a way of deepening into the journey. Sounding is welcome. This is a safe\, sacred space for you to embody and express your whole self. \nJazmin Love is a co-founder and facilitator of Dance Temple Victoria. She has been facilitating ecstatic dance journeys for four years and is passionate about embodied movement as a means of awakening\, transformation and authentic expression. She has a lifelong background in dance and is inspired by creating sacred space and designing music sets for unleashing the wild within. \n  \nSOUNDSEED MEDICINE JOURNEY\nOcian Flo\, SoundSeed Medicine Journeys\nft Alex King-Harris (Rara Avis) \nSoundSeed Medicine Music can be described as a shamanic journey. Laying down\, participants can go into a deep almost a trance-like state. Ocian guides participants into the breath\, the body\, and the mind to create a safe container for us all to work with the sound as therapy or medicine. This is a practice of witnessing and listening deeply to how your body\, both physical and energetic and your mind\, both emotional and mental\, responds to the different sounds during the session. \nAs a sound practitioner since 2010\, Ocian gracefully weaves in a plethora of modalities to create one-of-a-kind experiences\, every time. Ocian is a visionary\, an intuitive\, a spiritual teacher and coach\, using frequency and vibration to harmonize the body\, mind and soul. These sessions include Crystal Bowls\, Crystal Lyre\, Crystal didjeridu\, Zaphir and Koshi Chimes\, Rattles\, drum and others\, along with her etheric and powerful voice. As she works\, Ocian can hear\, feel and sometimes see the underlying vibrational and energetic patterns held within the body or group energy field. She uses this clairaudience to offer an awareness of these patterns\, with a reminder of the power of our personal beliefs\, stories\, and most importantly\, our own ability to be the catalyst for our own repatterning. This work offers each person the potential and the power of self-healing and self-awareness. \nOcian will be initially joined by Alex King-Harris\, who has spent the past 20 years training himself to listen deeply. The result of this practice is that when he is in a room filled with magical beings who are also willing to listen deeply\, improvised songs can come through direct from the Great Mystery. They’re unprepared\, raw\, unfiltered and depending on the setting\, transformative. Alex’s intention at this event is to make himself available to this Cosmic Muse and hopefully make something happen that speaks to the hearts\, bodies and minds of those gathered. \n  \nAGREEMENTS & NOTES\nCOME FOR THE EVENING: To ensure the container is powerfully set for our evening\, during the opening ceremony new guests will not be welcomed into the space. SO – please arrive before 7:45pm and plan to be with us for the evening. If it’s really not possible to do so\, we will welcome latecomers 8:15pm-9:00pm and THEN WILL BE CLOSING THE DOORS. No entires will be allowed after 9pm. For the best group experience possible\, do try to come for dinner if it works – and please arrive before 7:45pm if at all possible. \nCONFIDENTIALITY: This gathering is intended to allow us to do some of our shadow work together\, in a safe container. Some of us may move through various emotional spaces\, or share personal stories not intended for the world at large. What happens here\, stays here\, and by attending you are agreeing to this principle of honouring each other through confidentiality. \n  \nDETAILS & FLOW OF OUR NIGHT\n6-8pm :: Potluck Dinner – connection & communion\n8-9pm :: Opening & Orientation – Guided Dyads & Reflections\n9-10pm :: Community Cacao Ceremony\n10-11:15pm :: Darkest Night Dance Temple\n11:15-12 :: Soundseed Medicine Journey\n12am :: BLESSINGS & CLOSE \nhosted at Sunset Labs\nbottom of Herald St behind Value Village\nrequested donation $10-$20 (includes your cacao)\n(nobody turned away for lack of funds)\nthis event is drug & alcohol free \nblessings!

Before the Flood\, presented by National Geographic\, features Leonardo DiCaprio on a journey as a United Nations Messenger of Peace\, traveling to five continents and the Arctic to witness climate change firsthand. He goes on expeditions with scientists uncovering the reality of climate change and meets with political leaders fighting against inaction. He also discovers a calculated disinformation campaign orchestrated by powerful special interests working to confuse the public about the urgency of the growing climate crisis. With unprecedented access to thought leaders around the world\, DiCaprio searches for hope in a rising tide of catastrophic news. \nFrom Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Fisher Stevens and Academy Award®-winning actor\, environmental activist and U.N. Messenger of Peace Leonardo DiCaprio\, Before the Flood presents a riveting account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world due to climate change\, as well as the actions we as individuals and as a society can take to prevent the disruption of life on our planet. Beyond the steps we can take as individuals\, the film urges viewers to push their elected officials in supporting the use of alternative energy sources such as solar and wind power. “We need everyone to demand bold action from their political leaders and to elect representatives who have their best interests at heart\, not the interests of corporations to perpetuate a cycle of greed and destruction\,” says DiCaprio. “This documentary shows how interconnected the fate of all humanity is — but also the power we all possess as individuals to build a better future for our planet.” \nBefore the Flood premieres in theaters on October 21st and will air globally on the National Geographic Channel on October 30th in 171 countries and 45 languages. The film is directed by Fisher Stevens and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio\, Fisher Stevens\, Jennifer Davisson and Trevor Davidoski with Brett Ratner and James Packer of RatPac Entertainment. It was written by Mark Monroe and Executive Produced by Martin Scorsese\, Adam Bardach\, Mark Monroe\, and Zara Duffy. The film is edited by Geoffrey Richman A.C.E.\, Ben Sozanski\, Abhay Sofsky\, and Brett Banks. The Director of Photography is Antonio Rossi. The Executive Music Producers are Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross with original music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross\, Mogwai and Gustavo Santaolalla. \nThe carbon emissions from Before The Flood were offset through a voluntary carbon tax. The most recent such assembly of Tribes occurred when the Great Sioux Nation gathered before the Battle at the Little Big Horn. \nThe Standing Rock Sioux Tribe supports the peaceful and prayerful message of the Oceti Sakowin leaders and desires to assist with options for the Camp before winter sets in. The on-reservation camp will allow the tribe to explore and pursue considerations for a camp and longer term ways to meet the needs of the community that is 100% off-the-grid\, featuring Solar & Wind power generation. \nTHE DETAILS:\n—————————————————–\n7pm-9pm | all ages\n3 price options: $10\, $20 or $30 per person – you pick\npaypal or etransfer to: payments@sunsetlabs.ca (answer to the e-transfer question: standingrock (all one word)) \nall proceeds going to Standing Rock Sioux Tribe\nhttp://standingrock.org/ \nLimited Seating –\ndo please book your tickets to ensure seats.\nDoor tickets might be available –\nwe’ll update here on this page as we know more. \nConcession will be open –\ntea\, drinks\, water\, treats. \n♥
