Fresh Mix!: Chronikal – Going Savage

CHRONIKAL :: Sunset Labs, Hardcore Beats, Scandal | Victoria, London

Born and raised on the West Coast of Canada, Chronikal (Al Stewart) has been writing and performing music since age 8, when he picked up his first guitar. While his style has changed since then, Al’s love for the uplifting vocal melodies and driving basslines that get any dancefloor on their feet has remained consistent in all of his original production [OR has remained consistent over the years as he has developed his sound and skill in audio production]. Refusing to limit himself to one genre, Al is currently involved in a wide variety of musical projects, ranging from DnB to Dubstep, to Breakbeat, House, and even a recent Electro-Indie fusion project that has been gaining some serious attention from local and international record labels. After winning the Hush DJ Challenge, and building a sound reputation for destroying dancefloors all over Western Canada, in 2008 Al took his fresh production on tour throughout Europe, playing sold-out shows across Germany, Austria, France, Spain, and Britain. With his final gig in London (UK) complete, Al found himself studying with his now production partner and lifelong friend Ed209 (Hardcore Beats). The two recently began work on a Dubstep project entitled ‘Rough Child’ – their first EP scheduled for release later this year.

During his four years in London, Al found himself working with a diverse and prolific group of songwriters and musicians. His collaboration with up and coming DnB producer, Seismic, under the alias ‘Nightvision’ is already making waves in the world Drum and Bass scene. All three tracks on their debut release, the Hidden Agenda EP [FOKUZ RECORDINGS], spent over 8 weeks in Beatport’s DnB Top 100, and received massive support, both on BBC Radio and throughout the UK & European Drum and Bass community. They are currently working on their 2nd EP which is scheduled for release later in 2012. Al also has multiple releases on UK house labels Grin Recordings and Definite Grooves, featuring collaborations with Ibiza legends DVS and the So Called Scumbags. Both projects achieved impressive support across the UK and Europe, receiving airplay in a number of Ibiza’s world-famous venues including Space, Pacha, and Amnesia. Now, having returned to Canada with an impressive track record of gigs and releases across Europe and the UK, Chronikal is ready to take North America by storm with his high-energy, party rocking sets that never fail to get a dancefloor on their feet.
