Rave Culture: An Insider’s Overview
Printed in 1999, Jimi Fritz’s book was called ‘a primer for the global rave phenomenon’ and though dance & rave culture have morphed a lot since it’s publishing, largely the philosophies and artistic integration remain inherit to the culture. The author has generously gifted Sunset Room with a handful of these books, and they’ll be available for purchase for $10 through the concession during our dance events. Feel free to flip through the house copy before deciding if you wish – but really, it’s mandatory reading for anyone deeply interested in dance culture – past, present & future!
“Based on hundreds of interviews with promoters, DJs & ravers, ‘Rave Culture; an Insider’s Overview’, is a comprehensive guidebook to the rave phenomenon for ravers and non-ravers alike. In the last ten years rave has grown from an underground subculture to an international cultural movement with a unified vision and a global sense of community. Rave is not only responsible for producingthe first new music in twenty years but represents a new sensibility in the areas of fashion, politics, business, sexuality and phiosophy.”
We have some copies at Sunset – ask us for one!
