A Deliria Story
The Labyrinth Experience is the extention of an original group formed between visionary artists during the early & mid-nineties’ …beginning a 20 year period of travel. A core group were the main proponents involved in the inception and they were the early propulsion on numerous shows and festivals all accross the globe. Meanwhile, on the North American continent, the humble beginnings to a then-underground outdoor experience began. The scene was building, and concentrated on the sights AND sounds of the trance & progressive scene.
Dawn into the years 1994-98′ and the extended family began to grow to international status from the east – India & Nepal, and in to the centres of Europe to Australia thru Thailand, Bali, New Zealand, and right through to Russia, Poland & Croatia. The art itself beginning to hit new forms & textures much in demand for electronic events ranging from 1500 people to 5000+.
In the mid-90’s the art began to shift and appear as not only art & event decor for festivals & concerts, but also on a growing worldwide strata – and became visible in a few more underground trade shows & urban art expositions. As dates & demand began on a seasonal basis on at least 3 continents, our extended family crews came together on a more regular basis to suit the needs of a growing worldwide trance scene!
By the early 2000’s, parties grew in size with Mount Fiju (JAP) & Paradise Gathering (Thailand) as well as Fullmoon gatherings all through Asia. European festivals such as Sol Fest (IT.), BOOM Festival (PORT.), Glade (UK), Freedom Fest (FR), Samothraki (GR) & Ozora(HUNG.) and many in the southern hemisphere as well Zoom(S.Afr), The Gathering (N.Z.), Earthcore & Rainbow Serpent, Exodus (Aus.) – along with a host of other worldwide festivals were now on the Labyrinth tour. And back closer to home Mexico and S.America had now reached a fever pitch on the trance scene with epic weekends from 10,000-35,000 attendees.
As The Shambhala Music Festival 2003 began its Inner Sanctum trance & progressive stage, a new & interesting bonding process began, as the stage comprised the use of functional installations as part if it’s very fabric, literally. This ushered in a new era of decor expression with very deep psychadelic roots. The Portal was the stage’s next inception and created a great canvas for psychadelic art to be showcased. It too had an accent of flowing color & rich textures with a fresh concept. This was also the year for more regional gatherings to be birthed including Entheos, Astral Harvest, Inshallah and others. The Labyrinth designs have graced all as a ritual passage at one point or another.
The concepts The Labyrinth presents are surreal and subtle, attractive & infectious, underlying and as much in the forefront of the visual cortex – in a dizzying balance. A real treat for the eye, textured and truncated by 3D/2D balance & imbalance, beauty in motion, with harmony of fineline formulation and a heavy dose of fantazia!
“I have been priviledged enough to have had been part of the beginnings of the worldwide trance scene… and a part of the prime directive of the early as well as the latest Canadian efforts, in a host of dates & places. I have shared and co-created with an array of international family, as well as many new artists across North America – and what a gorgeous, magical journey it has been. If you haven’t had the magic of The Labyrinth Experience we create, we hope to see you in one of The Labyrinth Experiences yet to come this summer in Victoria… or any one of a host of our co-created efforts abroad!” – Gary Edwards aka DJ Sasquatch
