A Hooptastic Partnership!

 
One of our primary intentions through Sunset Labs is to find ways to celebrate all the amazing artists within our community, and to leverage our events at Sunset Room and other venues to highlight these amazing creators. Now that said, some alignments are more obvious than others, and we are very excited to announce a new partnership with Miss Hooptastic (Miranda), who has long been a Sunset Room dance floor mainstay and co-creator of some of the most colourful & wonderful moments in island dance events. Miranda’s passion for both flow & performance arts have her broadly contributing to our dance community culture, including fire performance, burlesque and of course hula!

“Being passionate about hula hooping makes designing hula hoops for others as enjoyable as spinning one around myself. My hoop journey over the last few years has been quite the adventure and I’m grateful to be a part of this creative community. I am motivated by the excitement of new designs and my evolution as a hoopstress.

I have been performing hoop and fire dance (including hoop, poi, staff and fans) for 2 years, and also love providing entertainment for various types of events ranging from adult events (hula hoop burlesque anyone?) to children’s festivals, as well as vending my hoops at a few festivals last summer. My attention to detail and design, fun selection of colourful tape, and the intention I put into each hula hoop are what make them unique. I make each hoop with care and love, and no two designs are the same!”

 

 
And as for what’s next for Miss Hooptastic? Teaching! Specifically, Hoopdance Fitness Fusion (Beginner/Intermediate level) Saturdays 11am-noon starting March 10th, 6 weeks for $99. The course descriptions says “Learn the fundamental basics of Hoopdance, rock out with some fitness inspired exercises, and learn some basic choreography. (Are you interested in performing it? This new partnership with Miss Hooptastic will show up in a number of ways! To start with, she has re-peacocked Sunset’s existing hoop collection with stunning new colours! Sunset will also have on hand a number of Hooptastic demos as well as some untouched shiny new hoops in various sizes & designs that will be available for sale. And last but certainly not least, you’ll be seeing a lot more of Miss Hooptastic and her radtastic friends performing at upcoming Sunset Labs events! Things just keep getting more awesome – and I’m very grateful to Miranda for her ongoing commitment to our community, to Sunset Room, and to the expansion of colour & luscious flowing awesomeness within our community!
