Aging Out of Care

It was such an inspiring treat to host Threshold Housing Society’s recent “Ready or Not – Aging out of Care” event. A packed house full of community members attended, keen to learn more about youth homelessness and the various lateral issues that youth face as they ‘age out’ of available care services.

The event will brought together advocates, researchers, people with lived experience, and community leaders from the youth sector who gave presentations from their experiences. They also hosted a facilitated panel discussion to inform guests on the recommendations and solutions that researchers and advocates are championing, which are designed to bring positive changes to our system and for youth aging out of care.

EXPERT PANELISTS INCLUDED:

Kelly Roth: Executive Director of the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness
Dylan Cohen: Advocate
Maureen Palmer: Critically acclaimed documentary filmmaker
Doug Magnuson: Associate Professor, School of Child and Youth Care
April Feduniw: Team Leader at Ministry of Family and Child Development

The evening was made possible through a 2020 Vision program grant by Stream of Consciousness
