The Victoria bass music scene is one of the oldest, strongest and fastest growing I’ve encountered. It has always been ahead of the curve, whether it be the export of drum and bass, dubstep or future bass styles. Some of the biggest and most innovative production outfits reside here or within a few hours. We are also privy to some of the most exciting music festivals, all of which tend to feature a major bass music component. Hip hop has been alive out here since the 80’s and local artists have honed a number of unique styles and flavours, not to mention an amazing and diverse street art scene. The major ethos of Union Sound System is “keep it local”, and Sunset shares this vision. We have so much amazing talent right here. It is important to showcase that!

The goal of UNITED is to bridge the gap between the various music scenes in Victoria. Hip hop, dubstep, drum and bass and live performance artists all tend to carry a tight-knit following. UNITED aims to combine these scenes, with the intent of exposing people to something they might have been missing! Although these scenes may have different histories, artists and followers, they are all inexplicably linked by one common element — bass. UNITED is bass music showcase. Come see what you might be missing.

At UNITED you can expect an eclectic night of bass music and performance styles. Not only do we feature DJs selecting dubstep, drum and bass, juke, funky and techno styles, but also live performances from hip hop artists, turntablists and synth-pop bands. Every night is unique but carries with it that common bass element. We believe the most innovative and rewarding musical experiences are the ones you can share locally, and if you didn’t already share this belief, we think you will – soon!
